Any chance that, because the 18th is MLK Day, the games on the 17th will be 3 and 6:30 ET and the ones on the 24th (NFC and AFC title games) will be 1 and 4:30? (In past years, IIRC, the NFC and AFC title games were played at 3 and 6:30 on the day before MLK Day.)

But he did steal his hat

Highlights:

- Ignores that when the article was written, the Giants were an also-ran in the NFC who needed a lot of help to sneak into the playoffs.

- Mentions how absurb Quarterback rating is, but then points out Eli's ranking relative to other (non-MVP) quarterbacks.

- Equates his (bad) contract to not only ask if he should be the best quarterback in the league, but uses that to justify his value to the Giants.

- Admits Eli's not as good as Peyton. Also that Peyton is better recognized because Eli is 4-3 in the playoffs.

- Eli might be the greatest quarterback in Giants' history. Which should shoot Kurt Warner and Phil Simms Hall of Fame chances to hell if they ever had any. Fran Tarkenton is about to go on Minneapolis radio to debase Eli as I write this I'm sure.

- Mentions that he has as many rings as Peyton and Favre, but ignores that he has as many as Trent Dilfer, Jim McMahon and Jeff Hostetler.

You'd think that he'd wait at least until Eli didn't lay an egg today to write this column, but it's not likely that Mark Sanchez could be gifted a win over the Colts, could he?

http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Wilson-Bengals-Browns-receive-blackout-extensions-2346.html

The Browns and Bengals both got 48-hour extensions to sell the rest of their tickets to their home games this Sunday, against the Raiders and Kansas City respectively. If they fail, of course, the games will be blacked out locally. They got twice the usual 24-hour extension due to Christmas.

If the Bengals fail to sell out, it'll be their first blackout since November 9, 2003. But for the Browns, it would be their first blackout since their final home game under Art Modell in 1995 (which was after it was announced the team would move to Baltimore).

Question: Obviously, the Browns' blackout in 1995 is a special case, with the owner basically having told local fans a couple weeks earlier to fuck themselves with an egg-beater. So I'm trying to find when their last blackout before that was (if there was ever one before that). I've searched Google for a while, but I can't find anything. Anyone know? Thx

Eagles players vote Michael Vick for the Ed Block Courage Award

Each year, the Ed Block Courage Awards honors those National Football League players who exemplify commitments to the principles of sportsmanship and courage. Recipients are selected by their teammates for team effort, as well as individual performance.

The Ed Block Courage Award recipient symbolizes professionalism, great strength and dedication. He is also a community role model.

Begin teeth gnashing and lol's ... now.

By the way, happy holidays to all of you and your families!

ETA: And apparently Matt Stafford has more time to be a Maowahn, Maowahn, Maowahn with the ladies, as he was placed on IR today. The Drew Stanton era begins. lol.

Easiest AFC schedule: San Diego, Pittsburgh (tie)
Easiest NFC schedule: Minnesota, Green Bay (tie)
Hardest AFC schedule: Miami
Hardest NFC schedule: San Francisco
Bad teams with easy schedules: Buffalo, Seattle, Chicago, Washington
Good teams with hard schedules: Denver, Baltimore, New England, Dallas, NY Giants. A lot of 7-7 teams have tough schedules, too.

Here's the whole thing, if you care.

The Ravens can also clinch a playoff berth with a tie, Jaguars and Jets losses, a Tennessee loss or tie, and the Houston/Miami ends in a tie.

So, with the playoff picture getting clearer in the NFC, and with a million teams still "in it" in the AFC, it occurs to me a few long-standing playoff droughts are up for contention this year.

Here's the 12 longest active droughts without a playoff win in the NFL, with teams currently in the playoff hunt in bold:

Cincinnati Bengals - January 6, 1991 - Wild Card, 41-14 over Houston Oilers (Complete with Ickey Shuffle)
Detroit Lions - January 5, 1992 - Divisional, 38-6 over Dallas Cowboys (Classic Barry Sanders)
Kansas City - January 16, 1994 - Divisional, 28-20 over Houston Oilers (With Joe Montana calling signals)
Cleveland Browns - January 1, 1995 - Wild Card, 20-13 over New England Patriots
Buffalo Bills - December 30, 1995 - Wild Card, 37-22 over Miami Dolphins (Don Shula's last game)
Dallas Cowboys - December 28, 1996 - Wild Card, 40-15 over Minnesota Vikings
Miami Dolphins - December 30, 2000 - Wild Card, 23-17 over Indianapolis in overtime
San Francisco 49ers - January 5, 2003 - Wild Card, 39-38 over New York Giants (Trey Junkin / "Bummer" game)
Oakland Raiders - January 19, 2003 - AFC Championship, 41-24 over Tennessee Titans
Tampa Bay Buccaneers - January 26, 2003 - Super Bowl XXXVII, 48-21 over Oakland Raiders
Tennessee Titans - January 3, 2004 - Wild Card, 20-17 over Baltimore Ravens
And, of course, the Houston Texans, who have never been to the playoffs since being founded in 2002.

So, I ask you, oh wise members of [info]nflfans: Which, if any, of these teams will get the monkey off their backs, and win a playoff game?

it hurts.... the pain it hurts.....
this is the first time time we've lost this many games since 2006

we look horrible.. what the bullfuck was that horrible flying feild goal bullshit?!?!?!?!
we havent beaten a division opponent yet...we barely beat the rams, and oh yeah..we lost to THE LIONS.....

i'm just waiting for Zorn to commit Seppiku ...just do the honorable thing man......

Chucky.... (who to me is an insanely overrated coach) has taken himself out of the Coaching hunt.. i can only hope thatBill Cowher has an extremem S&M complex, and he'll make that trip to D.C. because right now we are floundering.....

the good thing is My cousin Vinny finially got the Axe, and Danny Boy brought in Geroge Allens son, to replace..and history has shown me, that danny Boy only respects Redskins Legends, or those attached to Redskin Legends.... so hopefully he'll lets Son of Allen do his thing with minimal Dannyisms......

meanwhile... have fun to the other 31 .... i'll be gouging out my football eyeballs and i'll be in search of new jersys...i dont want anything to remind me of this season..... it may be time for a new tv...

a weak, meager, and very humbled...hail.
